World Cup 2019: Jimmy Neesham dishes the dirt on his teammates
Neesh was asked to label names of his teammates for the annoying or signature habits.
The much-anticipated ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 is finally here after a long wait of four years. The beautiful opening ceremony was carried out on Wednesday in London, a day before the real competition kicks off between England and South Africa at The Oval, on May 30. Meanwhile, with just some hours left for the inaugural match of the showpiece event, the ICC engaged with the New Zealand Jimmy Neesham in a fun session.
Recently, the ICC’s ‘Dishing the dirt’ segment has become quite popular as a special section for the Cricket World Cup. Players like Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja have revealed the secrets of their teammates- from who is the selfie-obsessed in the squad to who is absolutely in love with Bollywood. Now it’s time for the Black Caps to have their secrets and guilty pleasures revealed. And who better than Jimmy Neesham to do the job!
The 28-year-old all-rounder has had a few hiccups in his career and a long hiatus too before he was called up again by the New Zealand cricket team with ample time left for the World Cup and eventually he sealed his place in the 15-man World Cup squad. But even when Neesham was way from national duties, he remained internationally popular due to his presence on Twitter and it’s needless to say that he’s the funniest guy in the Kiwi squad, a fact that captain Kane Williamson had denied in a previous interview and that shows how the team loves healthy banter!
Our own favourite Jimmy Neesh was asked to label names of his teammates to the annoying or signature habits that the ICC put forward in the form of questions to the all-rounder.
Here are Neesham’s revelations:
Loves selfies the most: Trent Boult
Worst Dancer: Tom Latham
Grabs the mic at Karaoke: Matt Henry
Asks for a flight upgrade: Kane Williamson
Enjoys romantic comedies: Trent Boult
Worst roommate: Tim Southee (Reason: “I don’t think you wanna know!”)
Googles himself the most: Trent Boult
Grumpiest in the morning: Kane Williamson
Biggest coffee snob: Mitchell Santner
Most likely to be Late to the bus: Tom Blundell
Always in the gym: Not Trent Boult! (giggles)
Always on the phone: “Well, me!”
Clearly, Trent Boult appears the most number of times in Jimmy Neesham’s list of revelations and while we think of Williamson would be the calm humble guy, he’s clearly a classy dude with morning grumpiness!
New Zealand begin their World Cup campaign on Saturday, June 1, when they take on Sri Lanka at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
