Team News:
England
While players like Jofra insisted that being the home team did not offer England any extra advantage, they did make utmost use of their resources to defeat South Africa in the first match. England has never won the World Cup before and they should take advantage of being the home team – if that – to get their hands on the legendary cup.
Players like Roy, Bairstow, Root and Stokes will take the lead as scorers. Their batting can run deep with players like Moeen Ali and Woakes chipping in. Archer, Plunkett and Rashid are key bowlers.
Probable XI: Liam Plunkett, Eoin Morgan (c), Adil Rashid, Jos Buttler (wk), Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, Joe Root, Jofra Archer
Pakistan
Pakistan lost to a very strong West Indies team, probably one of the best squads the World Cup has ever seen from them. That does not rule out the fact that Pakistan needs to work on bringing spine to their batting by making sure that the middle order does not succumb to pressure. They are needed all the more when the openers are unable to build a partnership. Now is as good a time as any for Pakistan to bring out such a combination.
Batsmen such as Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Sarfaraz Ahmed are they key batsmen who have the potential to chase big numbers. Bowling was never an issue, perse.
Probable XI: Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfaraz Ahmed (c & wk), Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir, Haris Sohail, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, Imad Wasim, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali
