In the ongoing World Cup, hasn’t started yet for New Zealand. However, the Indian-born spinner Ish Sodhi is still making his presence felt on social media with the essence of his humour. The 26-year-old recently took a dig at West Indian Carlos Brathwaite after the latter gave them a real scare at Old Trafford on Saturday by almost single-handedly winning it for the Caribbean. Brathwaite scored 101 off 82 balls but failed to clear the ropes with a glory hit and the West Indies lost the match in a space of thin air (five runs) to the Black Caps’.
Sodhi, who witnessed the game from the pavilion, didn’t let go the chance to go after Brathwaite when the 30-year-old all-rounder tweeted seeking help to fix his bat in Manchester. The hero of the final of the 2016 World T20 perhaps had his bat impacted by the superhuman onslaught in Manchester (9x4s, 5x6s) but Sodhi asked him a simple but fun-filled question: “Is your one still on fire?”

The Twitterati loved Sodhi’s humour with some even comparing him with his colleague James Neesham who is known for his funny takes on the social media platform.

Brathwaite almost won the game single-handedly
It was the Barbados cricketer’s first-ever hundred in any international game and it came very close to pick a crucial win for the Windies. Brathwaite came out to bat when the West Indies were 4 for 142 and kept his team in the hunt till he himself fell as the final wicket. With the company of the No.11 Oshane Thomas, Brathwaite added 41 runs for the final wicket with all the runs coming off his bat.
He picked 25 runs off the 48th over which was bowled by Matt Henry but then fell in the final ball of the penultimate over which was bowled by Neesham. Windies were folded for 286 with six balls to spare. A despondent Brathwaite was on his knees after failing to win it for his side which is now in danger of crashing out.
The West Indies will next play India on Thursday, the other unbeaten team in the tournament apart from the Black Caps so far. They must win the match at Old Trafford on Thursday to prevent their ouster.
