From his young days, Ambati Rayudu was considered a future prospect for the Indian team. He never got enough opportunities to prove his worth as a batsman or wicket-keeper. Rayadu is one of the few players who has been dropped in the past, even after averaging 50 in ODI cricket. In the last World Cup, he was selected in the squad as a back-up keeper but didn’t play any game in the entire tournament.

When Dinesh Karthik burst into the scene he was considered the next big thing in Indian cricket. He was a good batsman and an efficient keeper, but the arrival of MS Dhoni always kept him on the fringe of team selection. Like Rayudu, Karthik has been carrying drinks for a long part of his career as the chances were few. This time Dinesh is selected as the back-up option for MSD, and he may again warm the benches for most of the time.
