The 2019 World Cup is just about to get underway and the ICC has made some changes in the format to increase the excitement and enthusiasm among the fans. Ten teams are gearing up for creating history, and the audience is fully behind them. At the moment it is difficult to pinpoint a particular winner which makes this edition even more interesting. Looking at the Indian team there is no doubt that they are again one of the favourites to lift the trophy.

The Virat Kohli-led side seems to have all bases covered, and it is the strongest team to represent the nation at the highest level. They have some amazing batsmen as skipper Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma lead the charge as two of the most dangerous ODI batsmen. The Delhi batsman has been one of the batting mainstays for the Men in Blue after the 2015 World Cup. He has scored over 2500 runs at an average of 43 in the last 4 years. In this edition, he will be a key component of the Indian juggernaut, as the team seems to have a fragile middle-order. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/shikhar-dhawan-gifted-prithvi-shaw-a-bat-with-a-special-message-on-it/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Shikhar Dhawan</a> has particularly stood up in multi-nation tournaments.

At the start of the year, he was going through a rough patch but bounced back by stroking a magnificent 143 against the visiting Kangaroos. Rohit Sharma was always destined for big things and since the last <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-world-cup-2019/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Cup</a>, he has achieved tremendous success. The Mumbaikar has scored over 3400 runs in 63 matches at a stunning average of 54. He is one of the few opening batsmen who always cashes in on his opportunities, and on his day he can be the Hulk of the cricketing universe.

The Kohli-led side will want Sharma to be in top-notch form and he will determine the fortunes of the Indian team in this edition. The Indian captain is already one of the greatest ODI batsmen to have played the game, and his numbers speak volumes. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/chelsea-fan-abhishek-bachchan-trolls-virat-kohli-for-posing-with-spurs-harry-kane/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Virat Kohli</a> is a class act and in the last four years, he has scored over 4000 runs at a breathtaking average of 65. Unlike other players, he always grinds out even on tough pitches and that makes his consistency hard to match.

In the CWC 2019, the Indian team will want their skipper in full flow as he has been their batting pillar after the last edition of the World Cup. Virat&#8217;s batting records are staggering but he has never played a substantial inning in knock-out ties which brings him to a score of 9.

Along with his batsmanship, Kohli has been the team&#8217;s role model for embracing fitness into their regime. He dives around and saves plenty of runs for the side. Even on the boundaries, Kohli has shown his extraordinary skills by taking some tough catches. The Tamil Nadu cricketer is the lastest player to be given the mantle of India&#8217;s middle muddle. In his limited opportunities <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/vijay-shankar-responds-to-the-3d-tweet-by-ambati-rayudu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vijay Shankar</a> has shown a lot of promise with his all-around skills. The Maharashtra cricketer has gathered 1000 runs in 55 matches while plying his trade down the order. Jadhav is an innovative batsman but sometimes he has failed to take the team over the line, and that&#8217;s why he gets a 7 pointer in this aspect.

Kedar also adds a different dimension to the side with his off-spin bowling. Nowadays he has been used regularly by the skipper in the middle overs. Ravindra Jadeja has always been around the Indian team with his consistent performances. The southpaw is a hard-hitting player who can play the big shots with ease. After the last World Cup, he has not been a regular in the side but has played a couple of matured knocks in his limited chances. Jadeja has a temperamental issue with a willow in his hand which reduces his batting score to 6.

The Saurashtra cricketer can be a perfect foil for the wicket-taking bowlers, as he provides the skipper with tight spells. The youngster has been the X-factor for the Men in Blue and he is a rare commodity in the international circuit. Kuldeep is a game-changer but he has failed to adapt to different situations which cut down his points but he gets a solid 8 for his track record.

Mohammed Shami is a workhorse who can stand up for the skipper at any point in time. He was one of the heroes in India&#8217;s last World Cup campaign but after that, he has played very few ties. Recently he has again returned to the ODI team and has shown his capabilities. Shami is an extremely important member of the Kohli-led side, as he is a wicket-taking bowler.

He can win you games with his splendid spells and he can be a tricky customer to deal with for the opposition. Of late, the Bengal pacer has looked in his elements but he has mood swings which can make him a burden for the team which earns him an 8 pointer for his bowling skills.

The speedster is a laid back and it can be seen from his fielding. Over the years Shami has got fitter which has improved his skills a little bit. He takes most of his catches and is a fast runner as well, certainly has a good shoulder, but again being a bowler he seldom takes the risk of putting in a dive which gets him a score of 5 in this trade.

In the last couple of years, he has been given opportunities at various positions but has failed to maintain his tempo consistently. Lokesh Rahul has been trusted by the skipper because of his immense talent. He is selected as a back-up opener but can also ply the trade in middle-order.

Rahul has been given a longer rope and his recent exploits in IPL 2019 got him the ticket to England, as he can be a match-winner on his day. Dinesh Karthik has been playing the game for a long time but never quite managed to establish himself in the Indian team. In the last couple of years, he enjoyed a purple patch in domestic cricket which prompted the selectors to bring him back in the ODI set-up. He has been selected in this team as a back-up keeper. Karthik has been a flexible player and can play any role in the side.

The Tamil Nadu cricketer has been picked in the squad for his experience and in recent times he has played crucial cameos while donning the blue jersey. Karthik has never lived up to his potential, but he gets a score of 7 for his innovative batsmanship.

He is an able wicketkeeper for the fast bowlers and spinners. DK has taken some awe-inspiring catches behind the stumps. Even though he is a lively character on the field he hardly provides insights to the bowlers which brings down his score to 7 in this aspect.

If these players can stay true to their roles then the Indian team is pretty well set to bring back the title to the sub-continent for the third time.
