MS Dhoni has raised the wicket-keeping standards to a whole different level. The former Indian skipper, even though unorthodox, has got a highly effective technique. He has got, what possibly, are the fastest hands behind the stumps and knows what he is doing perfectly. However, he is quite tough to emulate and Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed realised it the hard way in the game against Afghanistan.
On the final ball of the Afghanistan innings, the wicket-keeper batsman was involved in a hilarious act. Mohammad Amir was tasked to bowl this over of the game. On the last ball, Mujeeb Ur Rahman was on strike and he received a low full toss from the bowler. The batsman pushed it towards the long-on fielder and Samiullah Shinwari, who was on the non-striker end raced back for the second run.
Not even close, Sarfaraz!
A run-out was definitely on the cards at the striker’s end as Mujeeb was slow to get off the blocks. The throw, however, was quite wide and Sarfaraz Ahmed didn’t have enough time to grab it and run back to the stumps. Instead, he decided to do an MS Dhoni. He collected the ball and tried to flick it back towards the stumps. However, he got nowhere close and the ball was miles away from the stumps.
There wasn’t any fielder who was backing up for this flick and the batting team could have sneaked in an extra run. However, on his way back, Mujeeb Ur Rahman collided with Sarfaraz and fell onto the ground. Thus, he couldn’t get up in time and run back on the overthrow.

This game ended up being quite a thriller. Afghanistan nearly pulled off a victory if it was not for a few captaincy mistakes. Things got quite tight towards the end with Pakistan needing 46 runs off the last five overs with only four wickets left. Sarfaraz Ahmed was involved in a poor run out after he scored 18 runs off 22 balls in the chase. However, Imad Wasim came to the rescue with a brilliant unbeaten 49 which helped Pakistan get over the line with three wickets to spare.
