The ICC World Cup 2019 is just two weeks away and things have started to get serious with the teams having preparatory camps. Also, the schedule for the warm-up games has been finalized and with it, the official broadcasters of the tournament in India, Star Sports has confirmed that all of the 10 practice matches will be telecasted live.

The warm-up matches begin on May 24 and will continue till May 28 and will give the teams the opportunity to get accustomed to the playing conditions in England and also be able to fine-tune their playing XIs. These matches don’t have official match status since there is no restriction on the playing XI and it gives the whole squad a chance to get out and have some game time.

India to play New Zealand and Bangladesh

There are two warmup matches scheduled each day from May 24-28 and the Indian team will play their two warmup matches on May 25 (versus New Zealand) and May 28 (against Bangladesh) respectively. These matches are all day affairs and will begin at 3 pm IST.

Given that the matches are all unofficial contests, the teams are free to field any 11 players during the duration of their fielding or batting. The teams can play all their bowlers while fielding and give chance to all the batsmen in the squad during their batting. These matches are widely watched as Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the ICC World Cup in India, have previously shown them during the ICC tournaments.

Now, it has been confirmed that they will continue with the practice and show ten warmup games live and they can also be streamed live on their app Hotstar, though users have to pay a subscription fee to have access to all the World Cup-related content on the Hotstar app and the website.

The Executive Vice-President Star TV Network Sanjog Gupta confirmed the same on Twitter, posting, “10 warm-up matches (including both India warm-ups) will be aired live. 2 each on 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th & 28th (India plays on 25th and 28th). What should fans watch out for in these games? @cricketaakash @ProfDeano @scottbstyris @sanjaymanjrekar can better explain”
