The cricketing fans from all over the world wait for four years for the arrival of the World Cup. The English summer was a host to this historic 2019 World Cup, which turned out to be another treat for everyone. After an action-filled one month, where numerous matches went down the wire, the tournament has reached to its final match. The two deserving teams, after four years of hard work, have reached the ‘Mecca of the Cricket’, the Lord’s, to battle it out for the coveted trophy.
All the players left no stone unturned to entertain the fans. While there were some disappointing performers, others registered their names in the history books through the means of this prestigious tournament. While Mitchell Starc took 27 wickets, Rohit Sharma scored 648 runs. Ben Stokes, Shakib-Al-Hasan and Hardik Pandya impressed everyone with their all-around performances.
The efforts by the deserving players have paid off as the experts from all over the world have chosen their best XI from this tournament. It is always difficult to pick a particular player over others, such has been the impact created by the individuals. Former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar also picked his best XI from the tournament.
A balanced team
Gavaskar chose the top two run-getters of this tournament as his openers. David Warner and Rohit Sharma have scored 647 and 648 runs respectively and won numerous matches for their teams. He chose Joe Root and Kane Williamson as his middle order batsmen. These two Fab 4 members have been the backbone of the batting of their team. Alex Carey, who has been the find of this tournament, features as the wicket-keeper of his team.
Sunny has gone with two spin-bowling all-rounders, namely Shakib-Al-Hasan and Ravindra Jadeja. Though former’s inclusion is no surprise, Jadeja played only two matches in the tournament. He justified Jaddu’s inclusion by highlighting the impact created by him. Ben Stokes also features in his team. The southpaw has impressed in all three departments in the tournament.
