Who will get the much-debated number four slot in the Indian side? Well, there is no correct answer to it, but Vijay Shankar is certainly in line to get the first go at it. KL Rahul was tried previously at number 4 for a while and he didn’t enjoy that whilst Dinesh Karthik has not been in spectacular form either, making Vijay Shankar the number one contender as of now.

He performed well in New Zealand and in the few games he played in the national colours, Shankar has been impressive. He didn’t have the best of IPLs to back his performances, but he also brings in an extra bowling option just to get through with some overs in the middle phase. If used properly, Shankar could be a valuable asset in the side.
