World Cup 2019: The reason behind MS Dhoni using bats with different logos in the tournament
Another heart-winning gesture from the veteran.
Whenever MS Dhoni has come out to bat at this ongoing World Cup, an unusual sight has been witnessed. The former India skipper has been surprisingly playing with bats bearing stickers of many different brands. Usually, the players use the logo of the company that endorses them. And it is safe to say that a player can have an endorsement of only one company at a time as far as displaying stickers on the bat is concerned.
Dhoni is known for playing with his ‘Reebok bat’. However, he has been seen playing with at least three different bat stickers in the ongoing tournament. In the last two matches against England and Bangladesh, the veteran came out to play with a bat bearing the SG logo. But as the innings progressed, he changed his bats. After settling down, Dhoni was seen calling for a bat with the BAS logo.
MS Dhoni’s manager reveals the reason
Arun Pandey, MS Dhoni’s manager, has lifted the lid on why the stalwart has been using bats with different logos during his innings. Pandey said that while Dhoni is using different brand names on his bat, he is not charging them. He said that Dhoni has been doing it to thank the brands.
“It’s a fact that he has been using different bats with different brandings, but he is not charging them. He wants to say thanks to them for helping in various stages of his career. Dhoni has a big heart. He does not need money, he has enough of it, he is using those bats as a goodwill gesture. BAS was with him from the beginning and SG also was very helpful to him,” Arun Pandey told Mumbai Mirror.
Well, one of the reasons behind Dhoni’s gesture is that he is now all set to retire. Recent reports have suggested that he will bring down curtains on his illustrious career after the World Cup and the veteran is perhaps using the opportunity to thank the companies. India will play at least two more games in the tournament. If they manage to win the semifinal, they will play three and the team will be itching to give him a grand send-off by winning the World Cup.
