World Cup 2019: Twitter trolls Sarfaraz Ahmed after his ‘Every team is scared about Pakistan’ comment
Pakistan's last game against Sri Lanka was called off due to rain.
Pakistan slumped to a shambolic seven-wicket defeat in their first match against the Windies. However, Sarfaraz Ahmed & Co made a stupendous comeback and rolled over hosts and favourites England by 14 runs at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Even as very few of them gave the Men in Green a chance to make a comeback, Pakistan soared above the expectations and emerged victors.
However, their last match against Sri Lanka at the County Ground in Bristol got abandoned. It rained for a chunk of the match-time and even after the downpour stopped, the field couldn’t be prepared for play. Pakistan is unbeaten versus the Lankans in the World Cup and Sarfaraz’s men would be disappointed to not have gotten to take the field on Friday.
Sarfaraz Ahmed makes a bold comment
Thereafter, Sarfaraz expressed his disappointment over the called-off match and said that momentum was on Pakistan’s side after their victory versus England. However, the Pakistan captain also went on to mention that ‘every team is scared about Pakistan’.
“We wanted to play the match, unfortunately, we couldn’t do anything. We’ll take one point before the Australia match. Momentum was very high after the England match. Unfortunately, we didn’t play today,” Sarfaraz was quoted as saying in a press conference.
“We have a confident side so hopefully, we’ll do well against Australia. Every team is scared about Pakistan. The dressing room is very confident after the England match. Australia is a strong team, we have to play stronger than them. Hopefully, we work harder before that match,” he added.
Pakistan is next scheduled to play Australia on June 12 in Taunton. Even though Pakistan hasn’t won many games in the ODI format this year, Ahmed’s own form with the bat has been decent. He scored 97 in one of the One-Dayers against England during the five-match ODI series. Even versus the Three Lions, he got a crucial 55, batting in the middle order.
In the meantime, Twitter is heavily trolling the 32-year-old Karachi born for his comments. The experienced campaigner has been a recipient of ridiculing on the social media platforms in a number of instances and even this time around, it wasn’t any different.
