Team India is the only team that is now unbeaten in the tournament after New Zealand’s run came to an end against Pakistan the other day. India have defeated the likes of Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in their five matches with one against Black Caps being rained off. Currently, they are facing the Jason Holder-led West Indies team in Manchester. This game didn’t start off well for them as opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed early in the innings.
The Indian team was clinical in its performances against the Kangaroos, the Men in Green and Proteas, but Afghanistan gave them a good scare. One reason for India’s dominance has been the form of its opener Rohit, who has scored two centuries so far, one against South Africa and another against arch-rivals Pakistan. He fell early against Afghanistan and the team lacked that good start and suffered because of it.
Rohit got a bad decision against Windies, feels Twitterati
Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first on a beautiful pitch in Manchester. The Indian team went into the match unchanged, while West Indies made some changes, bringing in Sunil Ambris and Fabian Allen for Evin Lewis and Ashley Nurse. The Indian openers KL Rahil and Rohit Sharma started off cautiously facing Sheldon Cottrell and Kemar Roach’s brilliant first spells.
Rohit started to open up a little as Rahul was content with keeping one end occupied and in the 6th over of the match, he took on Kemar Roach, hitting the pacer for a six off the second ball and for a boundary on the fourth ball. He was looking in great touch and that’s when Roach brought a delivery back into the right-hander and there was some noise as the keeper Shai Hope grabbed it behind. The bowler was convinced he had his man as the Windies players went up in unison.
The matter was referred to the third umpire, with the soft signal being not out. Replays showed that the ball was right beside the inside edge of the bat and the front pad when the Ultra Edge showed a spike. After some deliberation, the third umpire gave it out much to the chagrin of Rohit Sharma and West Indians on the field rejoiced as he went back to the pavilion, for 18 runs.

Twitterati didn’t believe that Rohit Sharma was out, as evident from his reaction, here are some of the reactions:
Was there enough conclusive evidence to give Rohit caught-behind? I’m not so sure….but that’s strictly my opinion. Umpire giving it Not-Out is the equivalent of a soft-signal in this case…. #CWC19 #IndvWI

3 Rd umpire better run home when the last ball bowl

That review against Rohit ,definitely was not conclusive as the umpire mentioned on air…. soo… much for technology ????????♂️ #INDvsWI #CWC19

In such a case, batsman gets the benefit of the doubt, no lose of review. https://t.co/0dSovCistD

Soft Decision Notout, @ImRo45 stying there means he is confident too that it isn’t an edge, Neither there was any solid proof that it is an edge, Benifit of doubt should go to batsman then y he was given out ?@chetannarula @VVSLaxman281 @cricketaakash #IndvsWI #CWC19

3rd Umpire is smoking cheap stuff #RohitSharma #INDvsWI

Michael Gouch we know you want England to qualify, but never knew you will play it so ugly. #RohitSharma wasn’t out and you are a pathetic third umpire #INDvsWI
— Santosh Rao (@karma_moksh) June 27, 2019
How to fail as a 3rd umpire? Learn from @DGoughie. Clearly, there wasn’t enough evidence to give Rohit Sharma out.

.@ritssajdeh‘s Disappointment Is Justified. @ImRo45 Should Have Got The Benefit Of Doubt For This One, Especially When The Soft Signal Was Not-Out! #INDvsWI #TeamIndia #CWC19 pic.twitter.com/VkT1QLimxn

Why is hotspot not used as part of DRS? The Rohit Sharma situation could have been more conclusively decided with hotspot than a snicko over a 2D image. #DRS #INDvWI #TeamIndia #CWC19

Why there is no hotspot technology in #CWC19. Rohit Sharma is given out due to the lack of hopspot technology.#CWC19 #Akashchopra #AskStar

Rohit Sharma dismissal. Absolutely no way that was convincing. How did the third umpire decide so soon ? WTF, defeats the point of using technology. Disgraceful. #INDvsWI
— Suhrid Karthik (@suhridk) June 27, 2019
Unlucky for @ImRo45. Don’t agree with the Third Umpire’s decision that overturned the field decision in a matter of seconds. Why the hurry @ICC ? #INDvWI
— Priyanka Chharia (@PriyankaChharia) June 27, 2019
Not so conclusive evidence to say out or not out. Benefit of doubt should go with the batsman and on field decision too was “not out”.@ImRo45 Rohit wasn’t not out.
Shitty Umpiring at its best. #UK #MichaelGough shitty Umpiring. #INDvWI #BCCI#CWC19— Sanjeev Kumar (@Sanje_ev13) June 27, 2019
@ICC.@cricketworldcup @BCCI please have better standard of umpires, atleast for world cups. Many decisions have already gone wrong #INDvsWI #RohitSharma #WorldCup2019
