World Cup 2019: Virat Kohli unimpressed with Mohammed Shami’s fielding effort; uses cuss words
Kohli was as usual animated on the field.
India knocked Bangladesh out of the World Cup on Tuesday with 28-run win in a rather close game at Edgbaston. While the Tigers fought until the end and many lauded them for the same, India were ahead in the game from the word go in the match. However, they ragged them close and the Men in Blue looked nervous at one stage. Virat Kohli was as usual animated during the game and was clear in expressing his displeasure towards his teammates when they mis-fielded or fumbled on the field.
This time Mohammed Shami was at the receiving end as Kohli wasn’t happy with the fast bowler conceding an extra run on the field. The incident took place in the 27th over of the innings when Liton Das tapped the ball to mid-off and went for a quick single. Sensing the opportunity to run the batsman out, Jasprit Bumrah went for a direct hit and missed.
But there was no fielder backing up and India conceded an extra run. Shami was in the firing line for the same as he was slow in getting behind the ball and attracted Virat Kohli’s ire. The Indian captain also asked him to wake up and be more agile.
So raha hai kya
However, if we go by lipsync, Virat Kohli clearly used some cuss words for India’s best bowler of the tournament in terms of wickets. “Bh**Ch** so raha hai kya waha pe (which translates to ‘Are you sleeping over there’),” Kohli said to Mohammed Shami.

Shami impresses with the ball
However, Mohammed Shami impressed one and all with his bowling once again. He managed to nip out the experienced Tamim Iqbal early in the steep chase which put brakes on Bangladesh’s run-scoring. He also bowled decently at the death and it was an improvement compared to the England game when the fast bowler conceded around 45 runs in his last three overs.
It remains to be seen if India will drop Shami or not in case they want to play with two spinners in the line-up. Against Bangladesh, both Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar fared well with the latter doing really well at the death.
