World T20 hosts India made into semi-final after defeating Australia in their final league game. Australia scored 160/6 in their 20 overs after winning the toss. At once stage they were 53/0 in 4 overs but a brilliant comeback from the Indian bowlers halted Australia to a decent score on a tricky pitch.

Chasing 161 openers gave a decent start before both of them threw it away. Suresh Raina also followed them with a low score. Yuvraj Singh, despite an ankle injury, scored 21 along with Virat Kohli before getting out. But it was the Kohli-Dhoni stand which took away the game completely from Australia. They scored about 13 runs an over to finish off the game with 5 balls to spare. Virat Kohli played yet another master class innings during a chase scoring an unbeaten 82. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.

3 – Only the 3rd time India have qualified to semis of the World T20. On the previous 2 occasions, India made into the finals.

4 – Virat Kohli now has 4 consecutive fifties vs Australia in T20Is. He is the first player to score 4 consecutive fifty-plus scores against a single opposition in T20Is.

5 – Number of Man of the matches Virat Kohli has in WT20s, the joint most for any player.

5 – Number of T20Is matches India have played with the same XI. Prior to this, India never played more than 3 T20Is with the same XI.

6 – Number of consecutive wins India have recorded over Australia in T20Is, the joint most streak between any two top-8 teams in this format. England had 6 consecutive wins over New Zealand.

6 – Number of Man of the matches awards Virat Kohli has received in 2016 in T20I cricket, the most by any player. Shane Watson had 5 awards in 2012.

8 – Number of fifty plus scores Virat Kohli has in international cricket against Australia in 2016. Only Desmond Haynes (14) has more against Australia in a calendar year.

8 – Number of times India defeat Australia in T20Is, the most wins for India against any team in this format and also the most losses for Australia vs any team.

15 – Number of fifty plus scores Virat Kohli has in T20Is, the joint most by any player.

16 – Number of times in overall Twenty20 cricket, MS Dhoni effected a stumping off Ravi Ashwin’s bowling. Only Ramdin-Narine pair (17) has made more stumpings in this format.

19 – Number of times Virat Kohli has scored 20+ in chases of T20Is, the most by any player. Interestingly, he played exactly 19 innings in T20I chases. His least score while chasing is 21.

25.2 – Percentage of team runs Virat Kohli has scored in T20I format. This is the highest percentage of team’s runs for a player over his career in T20Is.

32 – Number of dismissals made by MS Dhoni as wicketkeeper at WT20s, the most by any player.

38 – Number of fifty plus scores Virat Kohli has in overall Twenty20 cricket. Among India, only Rohit Sharma (40) and Gautam Gambhir (39) have more.

82* – Virat Kohli’s 82* is now the highest individual score by an Indian in T20Is during chase. Previous highest was 79* by Rohit Sharma also vs Australia in 2010 WT20.

122.83 – Virat Kohli’s batting average in successful run chases in T20Is.

228.5 – Virat Kohli’s batting average in run chases at WT20s. He got out only twice in chases at WT20.

401 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli in T20Is against Australia. He became only the 2nd player to score more than 400 runs vs a single opposition in T20Is. Martin Guptill has 424 runs vs South Africa.

434 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli in run chases at World T20s. He is now the first player to score more than 400 runs in WT20s while chasing.

508 – Number of fours Virat Kohli has in Twenty20 cricket. Among Indians, only Gautam Gambhir (531) and Suresh Raina (515) have more.

536 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli in T20Is in 2016. He became the first player to score more than 500 runs in a calendar year in T20Is.

564 – Partnership runs between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan in T20I cricket. These are the most runs by an Indian opening pair.

688 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli at World T20s. These are the most runs for an Indian in WT20s.

700 – MS Dhoni became only the 3rd wicketkeeper to make 700 dismissals in international cricket. Mark Bouncer (998) and Adam Gilchrist (905) are the other two.

737 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli in successful run chases in T20Is, the most for any player.

918 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli in run chases in T20Is. Only Brendon McCullum (1006) has more.

1552 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli in T20Is. He became only the 9th player to score more than 1500 runs in T20Is. He is the fastest player to that mark.
