'Worst in the history of IPL' - Twitter roasts LSG over their jersey in IPL 2022
LSG's jersey is dominated by a fresh aqua colour.
The debutants of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, started their campaign on Monday (March 28). Both sides did well to form a squad from the scratch at the mega auction after picking up three players ahead of the event. The franchises also launched jerseys and announced team names in their own style and will be keen on performing well in this season.
As far as the jerseys are concerned, the Titans held a big event at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to launch theirs while the LSG side launched their jersey releasing a video. A fresh aqua colour dominates the LSG jersey as the franchise mentioned the colour as synonymous to young and full of energy. The jersey also has green and orange attached to it which are termed the extension of the LSG logo colours.
While the jersey looked promising at that time, the fans didn’t like it all when they saw KL Rahul at the toss standing besides Hardik Pandya. Many trolled the franchise for coming up with a not so good kit for the IPL 2022 season.
LSG go in with only three overseas players
As far as the team combination is concerned, the Super Giants went with only three overseas players – Dushmantha Chameera, Quinton de Kock and Evin Lewis in their line-up. For Gujarat Titans, Matthew Wade, David Miller, Lockie Ferguson and Rashid Khan took the field as overseas players.
The toss went in favour of the Titans skipper Hardik Pandya who opted to bowl first with chasing teams winning all the three matches so far in the tournament. On the other hand, KL Rahul cleared that he also wanted to bowl first. He also felt that his team has to enjoy playing and not take any pressure during the season.
“I think it is pretty straightforward when you play in Wankhede, everyone wants to bowl first. The dew plays a big part in the second innings but the wicket remains the same throughout 40 overs. It is our first game and it is important to go out there and enjoy ourselves, put a good total on the board.
“New franchise coming together and for us players we get to set a legacy, do our best as players, not much changes for us. Everyone has come in with a fresh mindset and wanting to win games of cricket. Three overseas players: Evin Lewis, Quinton de Kock and Chameera,” he said. Meanwhile, Twitter was filled with trolling comments after looking at LSG’s jersey.
