Shane Watson and AB de Villiers will be sharing the dressing room come April when they make their comeback into the Indian grand scheme of things in the summer. While the duo has been quite friendly on the field of play, the fact is that Watson has been in awe of the manner in which the South African skipper has conducted himself.
Speaking about his IPL teammate, Watson went on to state that de Villiers has a lot of Test cricket left in him despite the impressive manner in which he has conducted himself on the field in the limited overs cricket.
“(De Villiers) has played over 100 Test matches, he’s done incredibly well for South Africa, he’s got a young family now, there are other challenges in his life as well,” Watson told The Unplayable Podcast. “I’m not exactly sure what he’s going to do but it would be disappointing not to see him play Test cricket.
“In the end, everyone’s got to move on at some stage and if he does there’s plenty of cricket for him to be able to play for South Africa in the shorter formats. There’s plenty of Twenty20 leagues and the Sydney Thunder are very keen to get him involved if there’s an opportunity there. Anyone would be falling over themselves to get AB de Villiers.

Watson was also pleased with his personality, something that makes him one of the most-loved cricketers as well. “He’s such a very kind, a genuine person off the field and on the field he provides so much with his incredible skills. He’ll be fine whatever happens.”
“(De Villiers) and Virat Kohli especially is the ones I love seeing, how they adapt to all different conditions and have done it for a long period of time,” Watson said.
