'Would get spooked if you didn't sleepwalk' - Sanjay Manjrekar's hilarious response to Sachin Tendulkar's birthday wish
Sachin Tendulkar and Sanjay Manjrekar have shared a close bond over the years.
There is a saying that some geniuses have little habits which set them apart from others. One such genius is Sachin Tendulkar and some people may be surprised to know that the Master Blaster has a habit of sleepwalking. On Tuesday, while wishing Sanjay Manjrekar on his birthday, Tendulkar reminded him of his own habit of sleepwalking.
Manjrekar and Tendulkar have shared dressing rooms for a long time. When Tendulkar made his debut for India in 1989, Manjrekar had already been playing for the national team for a couple of years. Together, they spent a lot of time on the Indian team and the Mumbai team. Tendulkar’s sleepwalking was discussed by another one of his teammates, Sourav Ganguly.
When Sachin’s sleepwalking spooked Manjrekar and Ganguly
During an interview show with host Gaurav Kapur, Ganguly recalled an incident from the time when he shared a room with Tendulkar during one of the tours in their age-group cricketing career. He revealed that he got scared for a few days watching Tendulkar walking around the room at night.
Coming back to Sachin, it seems that he has always taken this in good spirit by having a laugh or two on this subject. While wishing Manjrekar on his 56th birthday, Sachin added a cheeky message saying that he hopes that Sanjay is not spooked by his sleepwalking habits until this day.
“Many happy returns of the day, my teammate & room partner @sanjaymanjrekar! Hope you are not spooked by my sleepwalking anymore,” Tendulkar wrote on Twitter. He also shared an old picture of them with the tweet. To this tweet, the former cricketer and now a cricket broadcaster, replied by saying that he would sometimes get spooked when Sachin wouldn’t sleep walk as he had gotten used to it. “Ha ha no… got used to it very quickly. Would get spooked after that if you didn’t sleep walk,” Manjrekar said.
The former Mumbai captain got several wishes from everywhere. He would be heard in a few days as he will returning to the commentator’s box when India and Sri Lanka tussle in the limited-overs series which is now due to start on July 18.
