'Would they have pulled out of a tour to India?' - Michael Vaughan questions CA after postponing South Africa tour
Michael Vaughan is the first expert to question Australia postponing the SA series.
After losing months of cricket to coronavirus, finally, we are witnessing regular cricket matches being played across the world. But, for Cricket South Africa, some recent developments have been very costly. Cricket Australia decided to postpone their tour of South Africa after revealing that it was not possible for them to travel to the rainbow nation and play cricket there.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan, who has been very vocal about cricket topics, has given his opinion on the matter. After the news of the tour getting postponed arrived, Vaughan decided to tweet about it. In a single tweet, the cricketer turned commentator pointed out that the situation is a big worry for the game.
He also questioned whether Australia would have taken a step like this if the tour was of India. Vaughan also stated that it is important that the big three of cricket, i.e, India, Australia and England should support other teams who are in need right now.
Michael Vaughan suggests the Big 3 of the International cricket help others
“The Aussies pulling out of the tour of SA is a huge worry for the game … Would they have pulled out of a tour to India is the question ?? !! It’s so important in these times that the big 3 do everything they can to help out those without the financial clout … #JustSaying,” Vaughan wrote on Twitter.
In a statement earlier this week, Cricket Australia had stated that it won’t be possible for them to travel from Australia to South Africa in the current situation. The series was supposed to be three matches. This was also going to be the first time that the Australian team will be travelling to South Africa after the ball-tampering incident.
Nick Hockley, the CEO of Cricket Australia, explained why the situation is not feasible for them to travel to the rainbow nation. “Following extensive due diligence with medical experts, it has become clear that travelling from Australia to South Africa at this current time poses an unacceptable level of health and safety risk to our players, support staff, and the community,” CA CEO Nick Hockley said in a statement.
