Mumbai Indians (MI), eyeing their third consecutive win, are set to lock horns with a batting-heavy Rajasthan Royals at Abu Dhabi in 20th match of the on-going IPL 2020. The defending champions have had a roller-coaster IPL campaign so far in the UAE.
After suffering a defeat against Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener, MI bounced back in the subsequent game and thumped Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs. However, they again suffered a setback by losing against Royal Challengers Bangalore in a dramatic Super Over.
Rohit Sharma’s men, after a mediocre performance in their first three games, finally retaliated and pocketed victories in their next two games against Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively.
All eyes will be on Rohit Sharma to deliver with his willow
Eying to clinch the top spot, MI will be eager to topple RR at Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. One of the strengths of the Mumbai Paltan has been the form of their skipper Rohit Sharma. Known for his impeccable timing, picture-perfect pull shot and massive sixes, Rohit has amassed 176 runs so far including two half-centuries.
If Rohit gets going against Rajasthan Royals, it will be an arduous task for Steve Smith’s men to restrict MI’s run-flow. Ahead of their vital fixture against the defending champions, Royals’ social media team shared a sly tweet for the Hitman. Along with sharing a ‘beautiful’ picture of the Marine Drive, RR asked Rohit– “Wouldn’t you rather be here today?

If Rohit slams a half-century against RR, he’ll also add another feather to his illustrious cap. Rohit, one of the leading run-scorers of the IPL, is currently tied with Suresh Raina in the list of Indian players with most fifties in the tournament. Both the players have scored 38 half-centuries and Rohit will be hoping to put up an impressive batting show at Abu Dhabi.
Rajasthan Royal, meanwhile, will be aiming to get back to winning ways after suffering two consecutive defeats. RR, equipped with many match-winners like Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler, had started off their IPL 2020 campaign by winning both their opening fixtures. They, however, slumped in the points table after losing their third and fourth game.
Smith’s men are currently poised 5th in the points table with four points under their belt. While MI will be banking on the likes of Rohit, Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan, RR will be backing Samson, Buttler and Rahul Tewatia to do the job.
