Wriddhiman Saha comes up with motivation, gets into the training mode
Saha has been out of action since IPL 2018.
Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha is currently recovering from an injury that he sustained a season ago. Saha is working hard to regain his fitness and be back in the scheme of things for the Indian side. The path to make a comeback will not be easy, but the Bengal cricketer is keen on making it happen again. It was not long ago, when Saha was the preferred keeper in the Indian Test side.
Ever since MS Dhoni retired from the longest format, the selectors have always looked up to Wriddhiman Saha as the best keeper-batter in the country. However, when India toured South Africa last season, Saha sustained a hamstring injury that forced him to leave the Test series midway. He was seen making a comeback in the IPL 2018, but another thumb injury cut short his IPL stint as well.
Later, he was named in the Indian team for the historic Test against Afghanistan, but Saha ended up getting injured again, and had to undergo a shoulder injury. Since then, he has been out of action. Currently, he is eyeing the matches against England Lions to make a comeback by playing for the India A side.
“It will be great if I could be fit to play in the India A day-games against England Lions [starting February 7]. If the fitness is up to the mark, then only I will be available. I am almost there,” Saha had told Sportstar earlier.
During the time when Saha has been out of action, the Indian team seems to have gotten a new wicketkeeper-batter for the Test matches. After trying out Parthiv Patel and Dinesh Karthik, the team management seems to be working happily with Rishabh Pant. The Delhi youngster has grabbed his opportunities with both hands and has been playing well.
Now, to compete with fellow cricketers, Saha needs to up his game as well. No wonder why he is sweating out at the gym and coming up with motivational posts on the social media.
Here is the tweet that Wriddhiman Saha came up with:
“No pain, no gain. Shut up and train,” Saha captioned his picture.
