Wriddhiman Saha posts heartfelt video of a physically challenged batsman oozing class
India is all set to take part in the first 2019 Physical Disability World Cricket Series in August.
Apart from Virat Kohli’s Team India that is currently plying its trade in the 2019 edition of the World Cup, the country has one more team in the international circuit. The team may not be as popular as Kohli’s men, but the hard work it puts in deserves a round of applause. Back in April, India won the International T-20 Wheelchair Cricket Series, beating Bangladesh 3-0.
Ramesh Sartape was the skipper of the victorious unit as India clean swept their opponents. Back in May, India also took part in the Wheelchair Asia Cup but lost to Pakistan in the final. Now, India is all set to take part in the first 2019 Physical Disability World Cricket Series which will be held in England. The tournament will be held at Worcestershire from 3 to 13 August.
A training camp will be held for the team in July followed by practice matches against the Afghanistan team before the team heads to the UK. Apart from these bunch of boys, there are a number of other players, who are physically challenged but aspire to play the game. They don’t want to allow their shortcomings to become a hindrance to their dream of playing cricket.
Recently, India wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha posted a video of a physically challenged person, showing his dedication. He missed the first delivery but made sure that he made a proper connection second time around. He captioned the video and wrote, “Cricket is not just a game, it an emotion. Sourav’s Indomitable spirit and love for the game. Respect,”

Saha’s latest stint
Saha has been one of India’s most proficient keepers. Nevertheless, it was only after MS Dhoni’s retirement from Test cricket that Saha started getting regular chances. 2018 wasn’t a pleasant one for the Bengal cricketer. He suffered quite a few injuries and couldn’t represent India after the tour of South Africa. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant cemented his place in the Test team, much to Saha’s agony.
Saha made his cricketing comeback in the erstwhile edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. Thereafter, the 34-year-old went on to play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he got a chance only after Jonny Bairstow left for England.
