WTC final: Colin de Grandhomme rates 'gangster' Hardik Pandya's hairstyle 9/10, gives MS Dhoni a perfect score

The World Test Championship final is officially into its second day, although even the coin for the toss is yet to be flipped, thanks to the England weather, which ensured that there was no play possible on the first day.

That said, the weather forecast is far better and one can expect some action between the two sides on days two and three. While there has been a lack of action on the field, off it, there has plenty to watch out for, with both India and New Zealand players getting involved in fun interactions with ICC’s digital broadcast team.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was recently interviewed by his wife Sanjana Ganesan, a part of ICC’s broadcast crew for the WTC final, while Rishabh Pant and BJ Watling took a trip down the memory lane as they revisited their Instagram posts. In one of such interactions, New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme went on to term Hardik Pandya a “gangster” for his hairstyle.

De Grandhomme was asked to rate the hairdos of multiple cricketers including the likes of MS Dhoni, Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Brendon McCullum, Lasith Malinga and more. He rated Pandya’s look nine on ten, while he took no time to give full marks to MS Dhoni’s long-haired look from the days of yore. The 34-year-old hilariously rated his compatriot McCullum’s style one on ten, leaving Ganesan, the interviewer, in splits.

WTC final likely to go into the reserve day

Speaking of the high-octane clash between the two sides, the ICC has provisioned a reserve day (June 23), which is set to be used to make up for such lost time that cannot be compensated through the regular modes of recovery (typically starting the play early each day and/or extending the final session in Tests).

With an entire day gone to the dogs, it is likely for the contest to last until the sixth day, not least because there is a forecast of rain in the remaining days. The ICC has clarified, however, about not exploiting the reserve day to enforce a result i.e., only the overs lost due to bad weather or light and not recovered through the normal provisions will be played on the reserve day.

With no tie-breaker announced for the inaugural cycle, the two teams will be held joint winners in an event of a draw or a tie.
