WTC Final: Kane Williamson's catching practice video to Virat Kohli goes viral after his similar dismissal
The video has gone viral on social media.
India and New Zealand are battling it out in a high-quality World Test Championship (WTC) Final at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. While the rain has dominated a lot, cricket played in the middle has been top notch with both teams not giving an inch to each other. The fifth day of the Final saw India staging a stunning comeback as they restricted the Kiwis to 249 runs in the first innings.
Kane Williamson was one of the main reasons why New Zealand reached a respectable total. He led from the front not by scoring runs but holding one end very smartly. All the batsmen revolved around him and especially, the lower order scored some quick runs helping the team churn out a crucial lead. Williamson deserved to get to a half-century, at least after battling it out for 176 deliveries.
But off the 177th ball that he faced, Williamson, for all the patience he showed, wafted at a wide delivery only to be caught by his counterpart Virat Kohli in the slips.
Did Williamson give catching practice to Kohli?
Interestingly, Twitter has found another angle to the dismissal as a fan has captured a pre-match video of the two captains in which Williamson threw the mic towards Kohli and the latter held the catch nicely. It was after the toss happened when the duo had to front up the camera and the New Zealand captain was the first as he had won the toss.
Before the interview started, Williamson just held his opposition captain and threw the mic at him and Virat Kohli perfectly held on it. Interestingly, the fan combined the video with the one of Williamson’s dismissal and hilariously asked if he gave his counterpart a catching practice.
Here’s the video:
As far as the WTC Final is concerned, the game is interestingly poised now and New Zealand will be looking to bowl India out early to eke out a result of the encounter and become the Champions.
