WTC Final: Mohammed Shami bowls a jaffa to dismiss BJ Watling
Mohammed Shami has fetched two wickets so far in the WTC Final.
India is up against New Zealand on day five of the World Test Championship where the Kiwi batsmen walked the field with willows. Moving with the rhythm of the game, India needed wickets desperately to shift the game in their favour. At the same time, India’s ace pacer Mohammed Shami walked up to get breakthroughs for the team. However, one delivery that stood class apart came up when he planned to dismiss BJ Watling.
Shami showed signs of brilliance in his pace attack as soon as he came up, on day five. His impressive swing became a thing to watch out for and sooner or later, a wicket was on cards. Talking about Watling’s dismissal, Shami delivered a dream delivery, an outswinger, that went on to disturb the off-middle stump straight.
Here is how Mohammed Shami sent back Watling
Talking about Shami’s performance so far, Shami took one more wicket on day five when he sent back Ross Taylor as Shubman Gill took an impressive catch to complete the dismissal. The pace troika of Shami, Ishant Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah is expected to bring some magical results for India. However, before day five, they didn’t seem very impressive.
As the game moved on to day five of the marquee event, all the pacers showed brilliant signs. As of now, Shami and Sharma have two wickets each under their belts. On the other hand, Bumrah is yet to get his maiden wicket in the high-profile clash. The first session that took place on day five went all in favour of Indian pacers and now it will be a thing to see how game will take its pace in the second session.
Talking about the match so far, India got all out on mere 217 runs owing to some dismal show by tail-enders. Virat Kohli (44) and Ajinkya Rahane (49) just fell a bit short to get their respective half-centuries. Seeing the status of the weather in Southampton, it can not be stated clear cut that the result of the match will come out any team’s favour.
