WTC Final: Twitterati compare Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson's picture with Test mace to detergent ads
The first day of the WTC Final was washed out and the fans had a field day on social media.
The inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and New Zealand was expected to commence on June 18. But rain had other ideas and washed out the whole of opening day’s play at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. The umpires waited till 7:30 PM IST before officially calling off the play as the rain returned just before the inspection time was scheduled.
With no play on the field, the excited fans turned to social media as a lot of memes were being floated around. The netizens were trolling the ICC for time and again keeping a Championship final in England despite repeatedly the game getting dampened due to rain. In the meantime, Twitterati also noticed another hilarious thing and it was the difference in the jerseys of India and New Zealand.
The picture of Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli standing on two sides with the ICC Test Championship Mace in the centre went viral ahead of the game. While the picture absolutely brilliant and the fans admired it, the social media gimmicks hilariously pointed out the difference in brightness of the two teams’ jerseys.
‘Is it Tide Safedi?’ ask fans
On June 18, hilarious memes regarding to the same continued to float on social media and a lot of them enjoyed it to the hilt as well. Many compared India’s jersey to the detergent ads which claim to clean clothes superbly compared to other ordinary detergents.
Meanwhile, everyone will be hoping for the match to get underway on June 19 (Saturday) with the weather expected to be clear for the major part of the day. Rather there were pictures of sun coming out in Southampton in the morning and play is expected to start on time at least.
The last four days of the Test will see 98 overs being bowled to cover up the lost time on the opening day. If the result is not achieved by the end of the fifth day, sixth day will come into action if necessary and possible. Accordingly the remaining overs, that were lost on the first day and are left to be covered, will be completed on the reserve day.
