Yashasvi Jaiswal is a really exciting player for the future: Robin Uthappa
Jaiswal made the headlines the previous year when he played a swashbuckling knock of 203 off 154 in Vijay Hazare Trophy against Jharkhand.
The IPL is known for bringing the young talents of the nation to the limelight as they can go on to attain a big name in the national side. Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, can be named as some of the significant ones. They started showing form in IPL and ultimately did wonders in the national squad. In the same trend, IPL veteran Robin Uthappa feels that another youngster that can do an amazing job for Men in Blue is 18-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Jaiswal made to the headlines the previous year when he played a swashbuckling knock of 203 off 154 in Vijay Hazare Trophy against Jharkhand. He went on to become the youngest male double centurion in List A cricket, and since then, he has only been promising. He also achieved the feat of becoming the highest run-scorer in U19 WC 2020 in South Africa, scoring 400 runs from just six matches.
The 18-year-old is gearing to mark his IPL debut with Rajasthan Royals, and Uthappa feels that he can be the right man for India in times to come and hopes for him to have a successful IPL run.
“Yashasvi is a really exciting player for the future. I think he has performed extremely well in domestic cricket, and having more IPL will be good for him in his pursuit of playing for India,” said Uthappa in a video posted on IPL’s Twitter handle.
Very happy to get back to playing: Robin Uthappa
The 34-year-old reckons that the upcoming IPL will bring back the state of normalcy in the lives of people. With little activities moving day by day, resumption of sports will be able to ease the lives of people in different ways.
“Very happy to get back to playing, competing, and not just individually but as a team. I think that’s what I enjoyed a lot more… Most definitely, it is going to be really special this year, simply because of what we all have gone through as a human race. I think in this unpredictable time, we were and are craving for normalcy and this tournament and sports, in general, bring about that feeling of normalcy back into our lives,” Robin concluded.
