Yashasvi Jaiswal, the left-handed batsman, has been grabbing all the limelight ever since his incredible performances in the U19 Asia Cup in Bangladesh. He racked up 318 runs in four matches at an incredible average of 79.50. In the final, he scored 85 runs from 113 deliveries to help his team set a daunting target of 305, which eventually turned out to be a far cry for Sri Lanka.

Following the stupendous display, he was appreciated by the cricketing fraternity. Recently, he revealed the name of the cricketer from whom he draws inspiration and it isn’t a seasoned campaigner. Rather, it’s the 18-year-old right-handed batsman Prithvi Shaw, who made his international debut last week against the Windies at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

I am not thinking about any targets

“I get a lot of inspiration from Prithvi bhai. I watch his batting very closely. He keeps telling me things. He used to guide when we batted together in the nets. It feels good to see him do well. I congratulated him as well. I saw his entire India debut century,” Jaiswal was quoted as saying in India Today.

“I am not thinking about any targets. In Asia Cup too, all I was trying to do was executing my plans and trying to help my team to victory. I want to stick to my process and results will follow,” the teenage prodigy added.

Shaw made his first-class debut back in January 2017 and ever since there has been no stopping the youngster from Thane. He scored centuries in his Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy debut. Earlier this year, he captained the India U19 team to glory in the World Cup earlier this year.

He broke into the India ‘A’ team after which he got his maiden international call-up in England during the five-match Test series. He also had the privilege of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), representing Delhi Daredevils (DD) this season.
