Talismanic wrist spinner Yasir Shah has signed a deal with Brisbane Heat, which means he’ll be representing the Blues in the next edition. The Big Bash League is definitely the second best T20 tournament in the world, almost catching up with the Indian Premier League in various aspects. After Shadab Khan, he became the second Pakistani to join the Brisbane squad.

Yasir Shah has been roped in as an International replacement alongside Shadab and former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum. The 31-year-old is touted as the best leg-spinner in the world currently and his addition will be quite a boost to the McCullum led side. Chris Lynn has been their talisman over the years and once again, he’s gearing up for a stellar show.

Champions in the 2012/13 edition, Heat have always been a force to reckon with. Although they remained a little subdued in the first few seasons, they bounced back strongly. Chris Lynn’s contribution has been pivotal in their resurgence and once again, he’ll be their mainstay alongside McCullum, Joe Burns, and Ben Cutting.

Having Yasir in the side makes good sense: Daniel Vettori

Brisbane Heat’s head coach and former Blackcaps skipper Daniel Vettori has said that having Yasir Shah on their side is quite a boost for them. He also reckoned that the youngster Shadab Khan has been nurturing brilliantly for Pakistan since there is a chance of him leaving the club for International duties, Yasir Shah was called upon.

“Having Yasir as a replacement player means that we can plan for the series with some certainty,’’ Cricket Australia quoted the coach. Shadab has been going from strength-to-strength for Pakistan since signing with us and there is the possibility he could be required for international duty during the BBL.”

“Having an experienced like for like player such as Yasir to call upon, means we can hopefully have continuity with our playing plans,” he added. The next edition of Big Bash League is scheduled to commence on December 20th, just a few days ahead of the festive week.
