One word to describe the West Indies team’s performance from the last few years would be ‘inconsist’. The year began poorly for the West Indies with them losing the 3rd Test against the South Africans eventually losing out the Test series 2-0. Kraigg Brathwaite top-scored for the West Indies with a century where he scored an unbeaten 106* in the drawn and washed off second match.

In the T20Is West Indies looked like a completely different team with Chris Gayle unleashing his best form with scores of 77 in just 31 balls and 90 in just 41 balls in the first two matches. The second T20I also saw the highest ever successful chase in a T20I where West Indies led by Gayle chased down 231 in just 19.2 overs. South Africa did win the last dead rubber game, but the T20I series was won by the West Indies 2-1.

The ODIs again showed the inconsistency of the West Indies team where the batting and bowling faltered except for just a few sparks in all the departments for the Caribbeans. They just won the fourth ODI and lost the series 4-1.

Bravo and Pollard weren’t given a chance in the 15-men squad and Sunil Narine also didn’t represent the West Indies for the ODI World Cup 2015. West Indies lost to Ireland in a major upset but they came back strong with two centuries by Gayle and Samuels against Zimbabwe winning by 73 runs.

Although they lost to South Africa and India in the coming matches, they beat the equation and won the match against UAE and qualified for the quarters. In the quarters, they had to take an exit from the tournament as New Zealand led by Martin Guptill’s 237* defeated them comprehensively.

West Indies had yet another rough tour losing 2-match Test Series 2-0 as they lost the first match by an innings and 6 runs and the second match by 72 runs. Sri Lanka completely outplayed the visitors and most of the tourists hardly got to grips with the stiff competition they were up against.

In the following ODI series, it looked no different with Sri Lanka convincingly winning all the three matches including two rain afflicted ODIs and ending the ODIs 3-0. They did manage to come back strongly with the T20I series with them taking the last match of the tour with a victory and ending the tour with one win under their belt. The T20I series was drawn and both the teams shared the cup.

West Indies came to Australia at the end of 2015 to try to win back the Frank Worrell trophy after 19 years but it looked difficult. In the first Test Australia comprehensively defeated West Indies in under three days on a green deck by a margin of an innings and 212 runs. The second match gave the same result with the West Indies losing the match by 177 runs and Australia kept a stronghold on the Frank Worrell trophy for 20 years and continuing.

The coach Phil Simmons was angry on his players for playing in the BBL and not for the West Indies when the team was in dire straits.

<p>West Indies came to Australia at the end of 2015 to try to win back the Frank Worrell trophy after 19 years but it looked difficult. In the first Test Australia comprehensively defeated West Indies in under three days on a green deck by a margin of an innings and 212 runs. The second match gave the same result with the West Indies losing the match by 177 runs and Australia kept a stronghold on the Frank Worrell trophy for 20 years and continuing.</p>
<p>The coach Phil Simmons was angry on his players for playing in the BBL and not for the West Indies when the team was in dire straits.</p>

<p>Sunil Narine earlier in the year was reported for suspect action was later indefinitely suspended from bowling. Marlon Samuels was also banned for 1 year due to his controversial bowling action.</p>
