'Yes, there is pollution in Delhi but we have to play' - Vikram Rathour

After Bangladesh coach Russell Domingo, now Team India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour has also accepted the fact that the conditions in the national capital are not ideal for playing a cricket match ahead of the practice session at the Arun Jaitley stadium on Friday.

After Diwali, the pollution level of Delhi has seen a significant rise. And the air quality has reached a ‘severe+’ level which is not fit for the human body to inhale. Indian batting coach also thinks the same but also feels that the players can’t do much once the game is scheduled.

Vikram Rathour has his say on conditions in the national capital

The former Indian cricketer also said that he has played in the North region throughout his career. Although there are problems related to pollution, teams have to come out and play. “I have played my entire life in North India, yes the game is scheduled and we have to play. Yes, there is pollution but we have to play as the game is scheduled. Once you are into a game you don’t really notice these things. I understand there have been health advisory but if you are here to play a game you are here to play,” Indian batting coach said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

50-year-old was also asked about the playing combinations of the team for the 1st T20I. In response to that question, the Indian batting coach replied that the team has just arrived and they haven’t discussed it till now. “We have just arrived and it’s just the first day of practice as of now we have not thought about playing combinations. T20 is a shorter format so players are not really missed,” he added.

Team India is scheduled to play three-match T20I series and two Tests against Bangladesh. The hosts will be short of Virat Kohli’s services, as he has been rested by the selectors for the T20I series. In his absence, Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the shorter format. The first match of the series is scheduled to be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on the 3rd of November.
