'You are 25 kgs overweight' - Matthew Wade to Rishabh Pant during the banter in AUS vs IND MCG Test
Matthew Wade and Rishabh Pant were involved in a hilarious banter on third day.
After missing out in the Adelaide Test, Rishabh Pant was back behind the wickets for the second game of the four-match series against Australia. With his return, the banter between him and the Aussie batsmen also began. Pant always likes to be vocal while wicket-keeping and he was again at it on the third day of the ongoing Test in Melbourne.
Rishabh Pant was involved in a hilarious banter with Australia opener Matthew Wade. The former seemed to have taken a dig at the batsman’s defensive technique after which Wade also responded to him hilariously. The incident happened during the 25th over when Pant was constantly chirping from behind the wickets.
It was evident that Matthew Wade got irritated with his constant talk and turned around to give it back to his counterpart. He took a funny dig at Rishabh Pant’s weight and asked if he is overweight. “You’re 25 kilos overweight. Are you 20 kilos, 25 or 30 kilos overweight? You’re looking at yourself on the big screen again? Very funny watching yourself on the screen,” Wade was heard saying in the stump-mic.
Rishabh Pant just laughs all the time, says Matthew Wade
Matthew Wade later spoke to Fox Sports and revealed the details about his banter with Rishabh Pant. The Aussie opener pointed out that Pant is always laughing about something and thought he found his batting funny. “He just laughs all the time. He doesn’t really say much, he’s just always laughing at you. I don’t know what’s so funny, it must be my batting,” the southpaw said.
As far as Matthew Wade‘s batting is concerned, he looked good on the third day with the bat in Australia’s second innings. Despite wickets falling at the other end, he stood tall among other top order batsmen scoring 40 runs off 137 balls with three fours to his name. Wade will be disappointed that he couldn’t convert the start yet again as Australia have been reduced to 133/6 with the lead of only two runs so far.
