Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) spinner Kuldeep Yadav has opened up on the ‘weak communication’ between him and the KKR management. Yadav spoke to former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra about the matter.
The left-arm Chinaman bowler further reckoned that there are times when he does not even know whether he will be a part of the playing XI of the Kolkata outfit, and what the team is expecting from him.
Kuldeep Yadav also revealed that there are also times when he deserved to be in the team but does not know the reason why he did not get a chance to be a part of the playing XI.
“If the coaches have worked with you before and are with you for a prolonged period of time, they understand you better. But it becomes very difficult when the communication is weak. Sometimes you don’t even know that whether you will be playing or not, or what the team expects from you.
“Sometimes you feel that you are deserving to play, can win matches for the team, but you don’t know the reason why you are not playing. The management comes for 2 months with their plans, so that makes it difficult,” said Kuldeep Yadav on Aakash Chopra’s YouTube channel.
I feel that nobody in KKR has faith in my skill: Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav further revealed that when a player is not a part of the Indian playing XI, the management comes and speaks to him, but that is not the case with the KKR management. Adding that he felt as if the team was not trusting his skills, Kuldeep said that the Kolkata Knight Riders now have plenty of spin bowling options at their disposal.
“In the Indian team they talk to you when you are not selected, but it does not happen in the IPL. I remember that I had spoken to the franchise before the IPL but in the matches that happened in the middle, nobody gave me an explanation. I was a bit shocked. I felt like there was no trust, like they had no faith in my skill. This happens when the team has many options. KKR now has plenty of spin bowling options,” added Yadav.
Kuldeep Yadav also added that having an Indian captain makes a lot of difference as compared to having an overseas skipper. Adding that he can readily walk up to an Indian skipper and ask him why he is not a part of the playing XI, Kuldeep Yadav concluded by stating that when an overseas player is made the captain, the communication gap increases.
“Definitely, definitely makes a lot of difference. I don’t know how Eoin Morgan sees me. In such cases, the communication gap increases. When it’s an Indian, you can literally walk up to them and ask why you are not playing.
Suppose, Rohit Sharma is the captain, you can ask freely on ways to improve, what’s my role in the team but most importantly, the captain should also be interested in what he expects from me,” concluded Yadav.
