'You have always been my favourite batsman'- Hardik Pandya shares a heartwarming tweet after Wasim Jaffer retires

Wasim Jaffer recently took retirement from all forms of cricket. He was poured with wishes from his fans and cricketing fraternity over the same. The right-hander is arguably one of the best batsmen in domestic cricket, who holds several accolades to his name. Later on, Hardik Pandya, the prolific Indian all-rounder shared a heartwarming post stating that Jaffer is his all-time favourite batsmen.

In his career spanning over two decades, he scored 19,410 runs with the help of 57 tons and 91 fifties in First-class cricket. Moreover, he holds the record of scoring most runs in Ranji Trophy (12,038 runs), Duleep Trophy (2545 runs) and Irani Cup (1294 runs). He has also got two double centuries in the longer format while playing for Team India against West Indies and Pakistan respectively.

He was neglected by BCCI for long but he continued giving some astonishing performances for Maharashtra. However, Wasim Jaffer announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Saturday. Later on, Hardik Pandya, the 26-year-old took to his official Twitter handle in order to wish Wasim Jaffer over his illustrious career.

Pandya shared a post that read, “Congrats Wasim Bhai You have always been my favourite batsman. Good luck for the next Innings.” The junior Pandya quoted Jaffer as the best batsmen and said good luck for his next innings in the future. In a statement, Wasim Jaffer thanked every person, who supported him throughout his career. He shared a letter on social media with his fans about his decision to take retirement from all forms of cricket.

In that letter, he wrote, “First of all, I would like to thank The Almighty Allah, who gave me the talent to play this beautiful game. I’d like to also thank my family – my parents and brothers for encouraging me to pursue the sport as a profession and my wife, who left a cosy life of England to create a lovely home for our children and me. A special thanks to all my coaches, right from my school days to professional cricket, for helping me polish my skills. A heartfelt thanks to the selectors who showed faith in me.”
