Indian cricketing icon Virat Kohli stepped down as the captain of the Indian Test side on 15th January 2022. The 33-year-old took to social media to announce his decision. Kohli made it clear that he has always given his best for the team and added that he has done his job with complete honesty.

Furthermore, the cricketing colossus thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for giving him the opportunity to lead the Indian side and also expressed his gratitude to all his teammates as well.

“I have absolute clarity in my heart and I cannot be dishonest to my team. I want to thank the BCCI for giving me the opportunity to lead my country for such a long period of time and more importantly to all the teammates who bought into the vision I had for the team from day one and never gave up in any situation. You guys have made this journey so memorable and beautiful,” wrote Virat Kohli on social media.

Virat Kohli also thanked the former head coach of the Indian side, Ravi Shastri as well as legendary cricketer MS Dhoni. Kohli stated that Ravi Shastri as well as the Indian support staff have played a major role in helping India move up in Test match cricket.

Also, Kohli expressed his gratitude to MS Dhoni for believing in his abilities as a leader and for choosing him as the man who will take Indian cricket forward.

“To Ravi Bhai and the support group who were the engine behind this vehicle that moved us upwards in Test Cricket consistently, you all have played a massive role in bringing this vision to life. Lastly, a big thank you to MS Dhoni who believed in me as a Captain and found me to be an able individual who could take Indian Cricket forward,” concluded Virat Kohli.
