You need Mahi bhai no matter what: Yuzvendra Chahal
He also opened up about his partnership with Kuldeep Yadav.
India’s spin twins Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have tormented oppositions at will ever since they have made their international debut. Their partnership has worked brilliantly for India over the last couple of years and the duo has been benefitted with the veteran MS Dhoni’s presence behind the wickets. Both the bowlers acknowledge the same as well and have more often credited their success to the former captain.
With the World Cup lurking around the corner, it goes without saying that Chahal and Kuldeep will play a crucial role in the middle overs for the Men in Blue. It is going to be a high-scoring tournament thanks to the flat pitches in England and the team which will be effective in the middle overs only be able to restrict the oppositions to a below-par total.
Yuzvendra Chahal understands the importance of the same and for that to happen he admits that they need MS Dhoni‘s assistance during pressure situations.
We still obey what he says
While speaking to the Times of India, the leg-spinner from Haryana underlined Dhoni’s importance and cleared that they still follow the wicket-keeper’s advice and nothing has changed from the time they broke into the international arena first.
“Whatever happens, you need Mahi bhai. We still obey what he says. He intervenes when we go wrong. It was the same when we first arrived. Even today, if we plan something of our own, we feel the need to talk to him about it,” Yuzvendra Chahal said.
When asked about his successful partnership with the chinaman Kuldeep, Chahal opened up about the trust they have in each other. He also recalled that the two were together in the Mumbai Indians’ squad and know each other for a long time now.
“It feels nice to know that our partnership works. We know each other for seven-eight years. We were together at the Mumbai Indians. We trust each other. If I have a bad over, I know he will try to cover it up from the other end by being a bit defensive so that I can make a good comeback in my next over,” the 28-year-old added.
