The IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are having a decent run in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) with five wins in nine fixtures. The side led by England’s World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan are one of the prime contenders to make it to the playoffs as they are placed fourth with 10 points in their kitty.
Recently, the Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan released KKR’s anthem on Facebook live. During the launch, he also interacted with a number of players. Shahrukh, who is known for his wit and humour, again showcased his traits.
During the launch, while King Khan was interacting with the young and dynamic Rahul Tripathi, the latter revealed that Brendon McCullum’s innings from the very first game of the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008 is his most favorite moment. The opening batsman further added that the sight of Shah Rukh waving when Mccullum smashed an unbeaten 158 runs in 73 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore was an iconic moment for him.
“I am very happy and it’s been really wonderful and just one and a half months and all great memories for me. From my childhood, it was my dream to play for KKR. The way Brendon McCullum scored his 158 runs and you (Shah Rukh Khan) waving from the stands so it was something very special,” Rahul Tripathi told Shah Rukh.
Shahrukh khan takes a funny jibe at Rahul Tripathi
Taking a funny dig at Rahul, Shah Rukh joked that he is still there in the stands waving like that but is waiting for Tripathi to score 158 runs just like Brendon.
“You still have to score 158 runs, Rahul, I am still waving like that, you are not scoring like that yet,” SRK said.
Rahul Tripathi is having a good run in his debut for the Knight Riders. Though he warmed the bench for the first few matches, the batsman has played brilliantly whenever he has gotten a chance in the Playing XI. The 29-year old has played six matches in Dream11 IPL 2020, scoring 167 runs. The Kolkata batsman has a single fifty to his name, scoring at a strike rate of 134.67 in the competition.
