'You think no one other than you knows about cricket' - Javed Miandad lashes out at Imran Khan
Miandad warned Imran to take proper actions before the situation goes beyond control.
Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad lashed out at former captain and current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan saying that he has ruined the game of cricket in his country. The Pakistan cricket team and team management have been at receiving end since their loss against England in the first match of the three-match Test series.
Javed opined on the working of the cricket board in the country. He held Imran responsible for appointing unsuitable officials who have zero knowledge about cricket in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Miandad also questioned the decision of making a non-Pakistan cricketer Wasim Khan the CEO of the country’s cricket board.
“All officials in the PCB do not know the ABC of the sport. I will talk to Imran Khan personally about the sad state of affairs. I will not leave anyone that is not right for our country. You have brought a person [Wasim Khan] from abroad, if he steals from us how will you even catch him? Has everyone in Pakistan passed away that you need someone from the outside? I want the people of Pakistan to rise. If you don’t have a better person in the entire country, then you should look outside, but that is not the case,” Miandad said in a video released on his YouTube channel.
I don’t want these players to end as laborers: Javed Miandad
In order to restructure their domestic cricket, PCB had shut down the departmental cricket in the country last year. This has created an economic crisis for the cricket community just below the national level. Speaking about the same, the former captain said that the domestic players could have had a big future in the sport but now they are left unemployed and unattended.
“The players that are currently playing should have a big future in cricket. I don’t want these players to end as laborers in the future. They have left players unemployed after dumping the departments and now they cannot offer employment themselves. I was saying this before as well but they didn’t understand,” the 63-year-old reckoned.
Miandad also thrashed the World Cup-winning captain for thinking highly of himself and not paying adequate attention to the game of cricket. Also, he warned Imran to take proper actions before the situation goes beyond control.
“I was your [Imran Khan’s] captain, not the other way around. I was the one who pulled your strings. You think no one other than you knows about cricket. You should start thinking about yourself and your surroundings. You should start thinking about the people you have kept in the PCB before it’s too late,” Javed concluded.
