Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been bearing the brunt of the social media negatively for quite some time now. The wicketkeeper-batsman is often subjected to brutal trolls, offensive memes and hate on the social networking sites. Ahmed was handed the responsibility of leading the Pakistan side in all the three formats of the game in 2016 but was sacked from his position after the team’s poor performance in the World Cup last year.
Under his leadership, the team won the Champions Trophy 2017 by defeating arch-rivals India in the final. However, people seem to have forgotten all his past achievements and contribution to Pakistan cricket. The Men in Green had toured England for a three-match Test and T20 series from August 5 to September 1 that ended with the hosts clinching the Test series by 1-0 while the visitors managed to draw the T20I series by 1-1.
Though Sarfaraz was included in Pakistan’s tour, he warmed the bench for the most parts and was given an opportunity only in the final T20I. During that match, the 33-year-old failed to implement an easy stumping of the opposition batsman Moeen Ali. This mistake almost cost the game for Pakistan as Moeen went on to hit a 33-ball 61. However, fortunately they managed to clinch the match by 5 runs owing to the brilliant bowling by Shaheen Afridi and Wahab Riaz.

After being under fire for a long time, Sarfaraz Ahmed finally replied to the trolls saying that he is not as bad as people try to portray him. The batsman had posted a cryptic tweet on his official Twitter handle on September 2. He had tweeted, “Main itna bhi bura nhi hu, jitna log bata rahe hai.”
After seeing the tweet, Pakistan’s current Test team captain Azhar Ali came in the support of the veteran by thanking him for instilling positive vibes in the team throughout the two-month long England tour. He also expressed confidence in him stating that Sarfaraz Ahmed will respond to the critics with his performance soo.
“Bhayya, you have so many fans including me. You will answer small number of people with your performance. You have done so much in past for Pakistan and you will in future. Thanks for giving positive energy throughout the tour. Stay strong,” Azhar tweeted.
