Star Pakistani batter Babar Azam made the headlines for tweeting in support of India’s Virat Kohli. The former Indian skipper failed to score big again on Thursday as he got out on just 16 runs against England in the second ODI match. He looked strong and destined for a big innings with three controlled fours. But once again, he failed to convert the start into a big one and was caught out by Jos Buttler off David Willey’s delivery. The Pakistani skipper was quick to show his support for Kohli and asked him to stay strong.
Babar received plenty of applause for his gesture. Cricket fans from both countries praised Babar for his unexpected support for Kohli. Most recently, Babar’s words received a positive reply from the former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan. He replied that he will be remembered for his kind supportive words for the Indian ace. “But you will be remembered for this,” Irfan Pathan said in praise of the Pakistani star.
But you will be remembered for this.

‘He is one of the best players’ – Babar Azam extends his support for Virat Kohli
Both Babar and Kohli remain the highest ranked batters in the ICC ODI batting rankings, with the Pakistani batter in the first and the Indian legend in the third position. Despite Kohli’s century drought, he remains one of the most effective batters for India with nine fifties in the last two years. Babar, in explaining his tweet on Kohli, said that the Indian star has played a lot of cricket and he knows how to come out of the difficult situation.
“As a player myself, I know you can go through such a phase (out of form). I also know what a player goes through in such a phase. In those times, you need support. I just tweeted thinking that it will give just some support. He is one of the best players. He is playing a lot of cricket and he knows how to come out of these situations. It takes time, if you back players, it will be really good,” Babar said in a press conference ahead of the first Test against Sri Lanka, starting on July 16.
