The incident took place in the Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 25 November 2014 when a Sean Abbot delivery did the damage. Hughes collapsed face first on the ground and was rushed to the St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. The left handed opening batsman underwent surgery at the hospital but unfortunately lost the battle. He passed away on November 27th, 2014, which marked one of the biggest tragedies in cricket history.
It was not only Zubair Ahmed who was hit by a bouncer on 14th of August but Aussie cricketer David Warner also faced a similar delivery. The Australian team was practising in Darwin for their upcoming tour Bangladesh and the squad was divided into two teams for an intra-squad battle. David Warner and Steve Smith were the two captains and the former suffered an injury during the match. Warner was hit by a Josh Hazlewood delivery on the head resulting in his fall. The batsman was taken off the ground for treatment immediately.
