Former Pakistani international Younis Khan has decided to put up one of his beloved possessions on auction. The retired cricketer will make his iconic 10,000 run bat available for bidding and has handed it over to an NGO for the same.
Younis Khan attended a ceremony held by the NGO and while addressing the media and the people there the right-handed genius has asked the government not to impose the tax on the one million Pride of Performance award given to him. The reason for Younis Khan’s request is that the 40-year-old plans to donate half the money to Edhi Foundation and other welfare organisations.
On his future:
Khan also confirmed that he will be engaged in a lot of welfare work in the future as he will continue to work with various organisations and brands for education health and promoting the game of cricket in the country.
When asked about whether the cricketer intends to make an entry into politics in future, Younis said that politics his not his cup of tea and he will work with everyone. He also squashed spreading rumours about himself planning to join the Awami National Party.
“I consider all parties as mine and the entire Pakistan is mine. Why should I join one party and restrict myself to it,” said the cricketer.
Younis Khan has been the best Test batsman the country has ever produced without a shade of doubt. The highly respected cricketer has scored over 10,000 Test runs in his 118 matches long career with an average of 52.06. In 265 ODI matches, the elegant stroke player scored 7249 runs at an average of 31.25. The ever-smiling legend announced his retirement from cricket in the month of May earlier this year. Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq also announced his retirement along with Younis marking the departure of two stalwarts of the game.
