Younis Khan heaps praise on young Josh Hazelwood
Following their 3-0 hammering at the hands of Australia, 39-year old Pakistan batsman Younis Khan has gone on to laud the performance of Australian pacer Josh Hazelwood in recent times. So much has the 23-year old Aussie impressed that Younis Khan has gone ahead and stated that he will be the next Glenn McGrath of the team.
Glenn McGrath did not have a great deal of pace when bowling, but the fact of the matter was that he bowled with very little for the batsman and repeated his delivery time and again, something that made it very difficult for the batsmen.
“He’s very young in Test cricket, his body language. It is very fantastic,” the 39-year-old told Grandstand. “He doesn’t give you any easy runs. So I think he will be the next McGrath for the Australian team.”
Speaking about the bat that he donated, Younis went on and said that it was indeed for a good cause. “If you see that list you will see no Pakistanis. So it was my wish to have at least one or two guys there and they make 10,000 for their country,” Younis said. “If I achieve that I will be very proud of myself and all Pakistan will be proud of me.”
Speaking about his future cricketing plans, Younis said, “It all depends, I don’t want to give a surprise where I come and say suddenly I’m going, or that I’m playing for the next five years.”
“It all depends on my team and what they want from me. That’s the main thing for me. I’m very near to 10,000 runs and it will be a big achievement for a Pakistani. If you see that list there is no Pakistani who has made that.”
“So it all depends on my team, the PCB and how they want me. I will be in touch with them and as they tell me, what kind of energy and what they need from me, from that I will decide how long to play. My body is giving me a good response at the moment.”
