Yusuf Pathan set to represent India Legends in Road Safety World Series
Yusuf Pathan, who represented India in 57 ODIs and 22 ODIs, announced his retirement from all formats of professional cricket and is the latest addition in the league.
Former India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan is all set to represent India Legends in the Road Safety World Series, which will resume next month with six participants in action. The inaugural edition of the tournament underwent in March 2020, where a total of 10 league matches were to be played in Pune and Mumbai, before the final. Although the arrival of the Coronavirus pandemic brought everything, including the tournament, to an abrupt halt.
Instead of starting over with a new edition in 2021, the organizers have opted to resume the first edition, which was paused at game number four last year. As far as the question of the participants goes, India Legends, South Africa Legends, West Indies Legends, and Sri Lanka Legends will resume action, whereas England Legends and Bangladesh Legends are set to replace Australia Legends, who will be missing due to their inability to travel, owing to the strict Covid-19 restrictions Down Under.
The tournament will commence with Indian Legends locking horns against Bangladesh Legends on March 5 at the newly-built Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. After the group stage, the top 4 teams will clash against each other in two semifinals, which are scheduled on March 17 and 18, followed by the final on March 21. The new entrants – England Legends and Bangladesh Legends – will kick start their proceedings against each other on March 7.

Yusuf Pathan, who represented India in 57 ODIs and 22 ODIs, announced his retirement from all formats of the game on Friday and is the latest addition in the league. He is set to appear for the India Legends alongside the veterans such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar, and his brother Irfan Pathan.
Other notable foreign players include the likes of Tillakaratne Dilshan, Rangana Hearth, Chaminda Vaas, Muttiah Muralitharan, Rangana Hearth, Brian Lara, Carl Hooper, Jonty Rhodes, Herschelle Gibbs, and Albie Morkel. In the four completed fixtures thus far, the India Legends managed to defeat West Indies Legends by 7 wickets in the tournament opener and followed that by a 5-wicket victory over Sri Lanka Legends.
Meanwhile, the latter had opened their account by defeating Australia Legends by 7 runs in what was the second game of the league phase. The last fixture before the tournament was postponed indefinitely witnessed the South Africa Legends winning by 6 wickets against West Indies Legends.
