What is highest individual score by a batsman in One Day Internationals? Everybody knows the answer, right? If you are thinking of Rohit Sharma’s colossal 264 run knock against the Sri Lankans at the Eden Gardens you are completely mistaken!

Okay, wait. That is what it seems if Wikipedia is to be believed. According to the online encyclopaedia, Yusuf Pathan is the record holder for the highest individual score in an ODI match. Can you tell the numbers? Well, it is an unbelievable 1230.

The truth:

Jokes apart, this is a huge blunder by Wikipedia as the Baroda batsman’s highest score is 123* against New Zealand in the year of 2010. Pathan played a mesmerising knock off just 96 balls to chase down a target of 316 runs set by New Zealand. India was struggling at 188/5 when the right-handed power hitter started the onslaught.

The highest score is not the only mistake in Yusuf Pathan’s Wikipedia profile, but his total ODI runs on the page is also incorrect. The page shows his total runs in the 50 over format to be 1000 whereas the 34-year-old has scored 810 runs from the 57 matches he played.

Yusuf’s last ODI match was against Pakistan on 18th March 2012. The batsman has found it difficult to break into the Indian team ever since due to lack of form. However, Pathan has registered his name for the Tamil Nadu Premier League draft along with Yuzvendra Chahal. According to the batsman, a disappointing season with the bat for his IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders is the reason behind this move.

BCCI is strictly against the participation of outstation players in state leagues and Pathan hopes to play the league following all the rules. Nothing is clear about the whole scenario at the moment but the big guy will hope for the best.
