Sunrisers Hyderabad left everyone scratching their heads when they won the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Lions were termed as favourites, but Hyderabad came out triumphant. They also broke the myth as was the first team to have played the Eliminator and won the India Premier League.

But this year, even after having a formidable squad, they were eliminated in the Eliminator. They can blame the Bangalore weather for playing spoilsport and reducing their chances of victory considerably. But it is of no use as the season for them is over. Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh thanked the loyal fans to adorned the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad day after day to support them.

Yuvraj was bought for Rs.14 crores by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014. But due to lack of performance, he was released the very next year. He fetched a heftier price of Rs.16 crores in the following season. His buyer was Delhi Daredevils. But his stint with Delhi didn’t turn out any better. Once again he was released. In the 2016 auctions, he was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad at a modest price.

With no pressure of a heavy tag by his name, Yuvi could perform much better. He was instrumental in Hyderabad’s maiden IPL success. He did well in the 2017 season as well with 252 runs at an average of 28. Maintaining a steady strike rate of 140, he struck two wonderful half-centuries. But his efforts went in vain as Sunrisers were knocked out of the tournament by Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator.

Yuvraj thanks the fans

Yuvraj Singh acknowledged the efforts of the Hyderabad loyalists on twitter. He thanked all of them for their continuous love and support and uploaded the group photo of the team.

He wrote- “ThankU for the continuous love, support n belief in us.Its rather unfortunate that we cudnt bring back the trophy. To an exciting next season.”

Yuvraj, who came back to the 22 yards after winning a tussle with life-threatening cancer, will feature in the Indian squad for Champions Trophy 2017. India is grouped alongside Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa. They will start their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on 4th June at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Yuvi fans will now be waiting for some fireworks from the southpaw in the blue jersey.
