Yuvraj Singh has been out of action ever since twisting his ankle against the Australians in the Super 10’s of the World T20. The injury also saw him sit out of a major chunk of Sunrisers Hyderabad matches. However, the middle-order batsman has hoped to return back to action and also hopes to significantly revive the SRH season that has begun rather badly. The 34-year old southpaw has set his sights on making a return against the Suresh Raina-led Gujarat Lions.

“I am looking to playing the game on May 6. Hopefully, I should be ready by then. I am not fully certain that I will play on 6th May, but my target is to play on the sixth. I had a go-ahead from my doctor yesterday, so hopefully, (I) will play,” Yuvraj said at an event on April 21 (Thursday).

Yuvraj was signed by the Sunrisers for Rs. 7 Crores with the hope of giving the Sunrisers a lift in terms of their weak batting order. However an injury to him and to Kane Williamson meant that the Sunrisers would have to make do with their current arrangement. Shikhar Dhawan’s lack of form also hasn’t helped. However, Yuvraj reckons that it is a 50-50 chance the Sunrisers have at the moment given the injury to Ashish Nehra.

“Sunrisers have played three games. They have won one and lost two. At the moment, it is 50-50. After seven games, you can assess how is the team doing. [Ashish] Nehra got injured, that didn’t work well for us,” he added.

Yuvraj hoped Nehra makes a swift return to bolster the team’s bowling attack while he too can add a lot of weight to the line-up.

“I hope he comes back soon and the bowling line-up will be strengthened. And when I come back, we can strengthen both in batting and bowling. I hope until the time I go back, the team (will have) won a few games and we are in a good position. So I just wish my team all the best,” Yuvraj said.
