The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction had set everyone on fire in the domestic circuit and it helped some of the cricketers bag a hefty contract as well. Yuvraj Singh was one of them who went unsold in the first round but was then snapped up by the Mumbai Indians at his base price of Rs 1 Crore. However, the left-hander has missed the Ranji encounter for Punjab soon after the auction which has irked the fans a lot.
Yuvraj made himself available for the previous round of the ongoing Ranji Trophy for his State team against Tamil Nadu. It ended only a day before the auction and the flamboyant cricketer fared well. He went on to score 41 runs with the bat and then scalped a couple of wickets with the ball in the second innings when Punjab were eyeing an innings victory.
Why did Yuvi skip the game?
Moreover, Yuvraj Singh played three games before the auction and played his best only in the clash against Tamil Nadu. In the three matches which he stepped out on the field for Punjab, Yuvi managed to muster only 78 runs at an average of 19.50 with 41 being his best score just before the auction. He bowled only in the third game and picked two wickets which was enough for him to bag an IPL contract.
While everyone was delighted for the veteran that he will be playing under Rohit Sharma‘s captaincy next year and welcomed him to the set-up. But Yuvraj decided to skip Punjab’s next Ranji Trophy game against Hyderabad and the reason is not known for the same. He has missed the game soon after the auction and the fans are clearly not impressed with him.
They are lashing out at him on Twitter for playing Ranji only to get picked in the IPL and not giving any importance to it after the event.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
• Yuvraj made himself available for 3 Ranji games before the #IPLAuction
• Fails to make any impact, yet gets picked by best friend Zaheer Khan at base price in the Auction.
• Off for Christmas with friends.Punjab cricket continues to let itself be expolited by it's stars.

I love Yuvraj as much as anyone and will always respect his contribution to our white ball cricket, but taking a youngster's place at this stage of his career was a disappointing decision.

Manipulative cricketer with dubious credentials

Don’t quite agree Zak picked him ….but yes when they find time to turn out for IPL where there is money why not turn out for Ranji and help youngsters. Have immense respect for him for what he did for India but now it’s coming to a point where he is losing respect.

There is a huge difference between 'was' & 'is'.. Reality is he is finished n should retire silently.. Wastage of money n youngster spot
