Yuvraj Singh mocks Jasprit Bumrah for his batting record; pacer hits back hilariously
Bumrah only has 303 runs from 286 matches, combining first-class, List A and T20 cricket.
Jasprit Bumrah is in the Indian team, primarily for his bowling. Hence, expecting him to get runs with the willow maybe a tad harsh on the youngster. The 26-year-old mostly bats at number 11 and hasn’t shown much resistance in his international career thus far. This gave Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian all-rounder, a chance to take a hilarious dig at the Ahmedabad-born talent.
The southpaw took a funny dig at Bumrah, using his batting numbers across formats at all levels. The duo recently had a chat on Instagram Live and the camaraderie between them was palpable. Both of them have played for the Rohit Sharma-captained Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well as for the national team.
Yuvraj and Jasprit Bumrah’s hilarious conversation
“You have a highest of 10 in ODIs, 10 in Tests and 16 runs in IPL. You have a total of 82 runs in 80 first-class class games,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying while trolling Bumrah during the interaction.
However, Bumrah managed to hit back, citing his highest score of an unbeaten 42 against Goa. “I have a highest of 20-ball 42 runs against Goa,” Bumrah replied.
Bumrah smashing Pat Cummins
Jasprit Bumrah has only 19 runs in 64 ODIs at a disastrous average of 3.80. But once, he turned out with a shocker while facing Pat Cummins. It happened during India’s fourth ODI against Australia back in March 2019 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Cummins was breathing fire, having picked up five wickets. Though he was expensive, he managed to pick wickets at the death.
Bumrah came in for a solitary ball after Cummins got rid of Yuzvendra Chahal. In the last ball, Cummins bowled a full-length delivery and Bumrah had an almighty heave at it. The leather sailed comfortably into the stands over the mid-wicket boundary. The seamer was bemused and so was Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who was pleasantly surprised by the massive blow.
In fact, that remains to be the only six hit by Bumrah in his entire career. He has smashed 29 fours though in 286 encounters. With the leather in hand, Jasprit has 233 wickets in 128 matches after making his debut for India back in January 2016.
