Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh requested all his fellow Indians to not burn any crackers this year and celebrate Diwali by lighting up our houses. Every year, during the amazing festival of Diwali, people burn a lot of crackers and the amount of pollution caused has been resulting in a lot of damage to the environment.
The whole world will be celebrating the iconic festival of lights on 19th October this year and the excitement surrounding it is pretty much palpable. Yet, the environment in our surroundings is degrading at an alarming rate and as sincere citizens of this country, we need to take up the responsibility on our shoulders to stop burning crackers.
The man of the tournament in the 2011 World Cup, Yuvraj gave the exact message in the video which he posted on Twitter. He requested all his fans to not burn crackers as the chaos caused by it last year made our lives miserable for few days. He mentioned that it’s not safe for any of our loved ones and it’s important to spend quality time with family on this momentous occasion.
Let’s spread love and happiness
“Hello, everyone! A sincere request from my side to all of you. Please do not burn crackers this Diwali. Our country’s situation last year during Diwali was horrible, the air we were breathing was polluted and I couldn’t get out of my house due to all this chaos caused by the crackers. It’s very unhealthy and unnatural for our kids, friends, parents and everyone dear to us,” said Yuvraj.
Talking about what the festival actually means, He said”It’s important we all take responsibility this year. Diwali is a festival of lights and let us all celebrate it by lighting up diyas, not by burning crackers. Spread love and happiness. Hug people, play cards, eat sweets, but stay away from crackers as this will burn our hearts. Little kids wearing masks due to pollution and roaming around is very disturbing. I’m sure all of you felt bad because of that.”
“Let us remember that it’s our country and it’s our duty to make it a better place to live. If we don’t take responsibility, no body else will do that. Lot’s of love to all my fans and wishing you all a very happy Diwali,” He concluded.
