Yuvraj Singh reveals his retirement plans
The veteran last played for India in June 2017 in West Indies.
Yuvraj Singh is currently axed from the Indian side and is striving hard to make a comeback ahead of the World Cup next year. He last played for the country in West Indies when the team had travelled to play limited overs series against the Carribean side soon after Champions Trophy. The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to be very crucial for the veteran. However, Yuvraj still believes he can make it to the Indian team and has revealed his retirement plans.
The talented all-rounder will play for his home team Kings XI Punjab in the cash-rich T20 league and it would be interesting to see the way he fares during the course of the tournament. His fitness has also been the prime reason for his exclusion from the Indian team as clearing the yo-yo test has been made mandatory to break into the national side now. With Suresh Raina returning to the side, the fans are also hoping for Yuvi to don the blue jersey soon.
Will Yuvi play in 2019?
Yuvraj Singh has cleared that he will play cricket until 2019 before taking any call on his retirement. He also believes that the upcoming IPL holds great significance in his career and a good show might keep him in fray for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. “I am looking forward to a good IPL. It’s a very important tournament for me as it will only set me to play cricket till 2019. I am looking to play cricket till 2019, whatever cricket I get to play and take a call after that,” he said on the sidelines of the 18th Laureus World Sports Awards.
The left-hander also regretted that he failed to cement his place in the Test side during his illustrious career. “Definitely, in the first 6-7 years of my career when I was at my best I did not get a lot of opportunities because there were such great players in the (Test) team and when I got an opportunity I was diagnosed with cancer. So that regret will always be there but these things are never in my control. I am just looking forward to whatever cricket I get to play,” the 36-year-old added.
